Gameplay
Forza Horizon 6 follows the series’ arcade-style open-world racing formula, but puts more focus on progression. You begin as a newcomer in Japan and work toward a place in the Horizon Festival. That means driving across the country, entering festival events, collecting cars, and moving through a campaign built around the Horizon Invitational and Wristbands.
The core loop mixes free driving with structured activities. You can race through Tokyo City, take on Touge Battles, cruise with friends, and keep building your Collection Journal while moving from slower cars to faster and more specialized machines. Solo and co-op play are both part of the main campaign, so the game supports both single-player sessions and shared driving with friends.
Outside standard racing, Forza Horizon 6 adds more room for player-made content and personal spaces. Every player house includes a customizable garage where you can display up to four cars, set up props, and use shared layouts from the community. The Estate gives you a larger building area in a mountain valley, while EventLab and Horizon CoLab let you create races, challenges, stunts, and custom areas in more places across the world.
Story
The story starts with a simple goal: arrive in Japan as a tourist and earn your place at the Horizon Festival. Unlike earlier Horizon games, you do not begin as an established star. You have to build your reputation from the ground up, prove yourself as a rookie driver, and work toward the title of Horizon Legend.
Your rise through the festival is tied to new characters and a clearer campaign structure. Mei and Jordy help guide your first steps, and the game uses the Horizon Invitational, Wristbands, and Discover Japan activities to push your progress forward. As you complete festival goals, you gain access to higher ranks, stronger events, and eventually Legend Island, a special area reserved for the top drivers.
Graphics
Forza Horizon 6 uses Japan as the base for its visual style and overall theme. The map combines busy city streets with quieter roads, mountain routes, industrial zones, and alpine regions with snow. Tokyo City is the largest urban area ever used in a Forza Horizon game, which gives the world a different feel from the wide-open roads seen in earlier entries.
The setting also puts more weight on Japanese car culture, local roads, and a mix of modern and traditional surroundings. That gives the game a strong identity whether you are driving through downtown streets, heading into the hills, or spending time at Car Meets and festival locations. On PC, the presentation also includes ray-traced reflections and ray-traced global illumination, along with support for 4K HDR visuals, uncapped framerates, and ultrawide resolutions.
